SXMatrix™ is comprised of human amniotic membrane and amniotic fluid derived from the placental tissue of pre-screened donors.
Biological Properties of Amniotic Tissue
Amniotic tissue is rich with the basic components known to be active in tissue repair and wound healing. It contains collagen substrates, growth factors, amino acids, carbohydrates, and cytokines. These elements are known to facilitate migration and proliferation of cells to the site of injury and to construct a natural scaffold on which new tissue growth can occur. These properties make amniotic tissue an attractive material for wound covering allografts.
The amniotic tissue used in SXMatrix™ is processed through the proprietary AdvanTek™ process which maintains the original characteristics of the tissue while allowing for multiple storage options.
SXMatrix™ comes in an easy-to-use, liquid format for use in a surgical or ambulatory setting. It can be applied topically or implanted at the area of concern. Because it is processed through the AdvanTek™ system it provides users with three storage options:
|Cryopreserved||-80°C +/- 15°C||2 years|
|Refrigerated||2 – 8°C||Up to 14 days prior to implantation|
|Room Temperature||15 – 30°C||Up to 24 hours prior to implantation|
Unlike other amniotic tissue allografts on the market, Surgilogix allografts do not contain chorion, which reduces the risk of an adverse reaction in the patient.
